U.S. PATENT NO. 4,698,090 Research and experience have determined the proper amount of organic acids to react with nitrogen and potassium to be at a 50:1 ratio. For every 50 pounds of actual N and K20 fertilizer, one pound of Actagro Organic Acids® as ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® will provide adequate exchange sites for increased efficiency. This increased efficiency of nitrogen has been a minimum of 20% in most conditions tested, and reductions of total nitrogen input as high as 50% are not uncommon. ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® weighs 10.0 pounds per gallon, and carries over two pounds of organic acids per gallon, so an application of 150 pounds of N per acre would require the addition of 1.5 gallons of ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® prior to the application.
10.0 lbs. Per gallon (1199 grams/liter) @ 68° F
ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® is an effective agent for increased efficiency of nitrogen, phosphate and potassium liquid fertilizers. The humin constituents of the Actagro Organic Acids® in ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® retain nitrates in the root zone by creating anion exchange sites that bond with nitrate ions. The organics then form colloids around soil particles and hold the nitrogen against leaching in the root zone. The Actagro Organic Acids® in ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® are effective cation exchangers, thus maintaining potassium and ammonium ions in soil solution for immediate and prolonged utilization.
EXAMPLE: A recommendation is made for an application of 165 lbs of nitrogen per acre. First, a reduction of 20% would apply: 165 x 80% = 132 lbs of nitrogen. 132 N / 50 = 2.64 lbs of organics. 2.64 / 22% active ingredients = 12 lbs of ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® 12 / 10.0 lbs per gal = 1.2 gallons of Liquid Humus per acre. If N and K were being applied together, the starting number would be the total of N plus K.
Precaution: Fruiting crops that are affected by excessive nitrogen levels late in the season to increase sugars, solids, or size, should be monitored prior to any mid-season applications of nitrogen as a sidedress, top dress, or water run.

ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® contains Actagro Organic Acids® extracted from leonardite in a patented formulation. It contains potassium which is essential for translocation of sugars and for starch formation. It enhances root growth and increases crop resistance to disease. It may also increase size and quality of fruits, grains and vegetables. The Actagro Organic Acids® in ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® may increase soil or foliar applied micronutrient uptake.
ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® is recommended for direct injection in the root zone area and is safe as a foliar application. For best results application should be made early in the life cycle of the crop.
ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® is compatible with most ACTAGRO organic acid fertilizer solutions when adequate agitation is used during mixing. Do not use with CAN 17. When mixing with AN-20 or 10-34-0 dilute the ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® with an equal volume of water. While agitating, inject the fertilizing product into the ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® and water mixture.
ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® is non-phytotoxic when used as directed.
ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® disperses well in water with a minimum of agitation. It may be combined with most fertilizer solutions using adequate agitation during mixing. Dilutions with water may be made at any time.
1. Partially fill tank with water and start agitation.
2. Add ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® slowly to the circulating mix, mix thoroughly.
3. While agitating, inject the fertilizer product into the ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® and water mixture.
ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® can be applied to all vegetable, cucurbit crops, row crops, deciduous fruit and nut trees, grapes, olives, citrus, field crops, berries and ornamentals. Direct application of solutions may be made to drip, sprinkler or micro-sprinkler irrigation systems, or foliar applied by air or ground application equipment. May be applied through center pivot irrigation systems.
SOIL APPLICATION RATES
ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® may be injected preplant into the root zone, drilled in bands where practical, or sprayed in the soil and incorporated. To apply alone, dilute with water to insure uniform distribution. May be applied through center pivot irrigation systems.
VEGETABLES, CUCURBITS, FIELD AND ROW CROPS: Use 1/2 to 4 gallons per acre diluted with a minimum of 10 to 40 gallons of solution.
DECIDUOUS FRUIT AND NUT TREES, GRAPES, OLIVES AND CITRUS: Use 1/2 to 4 gallons per acre diluted with a minimum of 10 to 40 gallons of solution.
TRANSPLANT WATER - ALL CROPS: Use 1/2 to 1 gallon per acre diluted with a minimum of 500 gallons of solution.
ORNAMENTALS: Apply through a drip system or directly to the soil. Use 1 to 2 quarts diluted with 25 gallons of solution. Do not apply more than three times during the growing season.
TURF: Apply through drip or sprinkler system. Use 8 to 16 ounces per 1000 sq. feet, 3-4 times per season. Dilute in a minimum 5 gallons of solution.
FOLIAR APPLICATION RATES
CAUTION: Foliar application of ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® close to harvest may leave a brown residue on the harvestable portion of the crop. Rainfall, sprinkler irrigation or high humidity should alleviate this condition.
ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® can be applied to all vegetable crops, row crops, deciduous fruit and nut trees, grapes, olives, citrus, berries and ornamentals. Apply ˝ to 1 gallons per acre with the appropriate dilution for adequate coverage. A maximum concentration of 1:10 ACTAGRO LIQUID HUMUS® to water should be used for foliar applications.
