Resist 57

Resist 57™ is a concentrated, systemic fungicide for the control of Phytophthora, Pythium, Downey Mildew and various other diseases on a variety of crops and ornamental plants. Resist 57™ is a systemic product which contains phosphorous acid in a neutral potassium salt formulation. Resist 57™ is effective for control of foliage diseases, root rots and storage rots as labeled.

Resist 57™ works to control plant diseases by direct activity on the pathogen and by stimulating the natural resistance systems of the host plant. Resist 57™ is intended for use as part of an integrated pest management program along with appropriate cultural practices. To prevent the possibility of eventual pathogen resistance, other fungicides with different modes of action should be alternated with Resist 57™ if many applications will be made per season. Application rates should equal the label rates as poor control may result otherwise.

Resist 57™ is most effective when used just prior to plant infection or when disease symptoms are first observed. Always consult a State licensed advisor or Extension Agent if needed, for proper identification of pathogens. When used as directed, Resist 57™ is non-phytotoxic.
Resist 57™ fungicide may be applied to these crops:

Berry crops, brassica crops, cereal grains, forage and fiber crops, citrus crops (bearing and non-bearing) including avocado, cucurbit crops, herb and spice crops, legume crops, pome fruit crops (bearing and non-bearing) including papaya, stone fruit crops including olives, tree nut crops including vines, vegetables including minor food crops, ornamentals, bedding plants, conifers and trees in commercial nurseries, plantations and forests, landscapes and parks (including Christmas trees, oaks and pines), and turf.

For specific rates and timings refer to Resist 57™ label.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS STATEMENT
When handlers use closed systems, enclosed cabs, or aircraft in a manner that meets the requirements listed in the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) for agricultural pesticides [40 CFR 170.240(d) (4-5)], the handler PPE requirements may be reduced or modified as specified in the WPS.

USER SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS
Users should:
• Wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet.
• Remove clothing/PPE immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing.
• Remove PPE immediately after handling this product. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing.

RESIST 57™ may be applied as a foliar spray, trunk injection, soil drench, soil incorporation, or bare root dip. For foliar sprays, apply RESIST 57™ with sufficient water for adequate coverage of foliage, according to crop and growth stage. To ensure good coverage, spray until wet but not to the point of runoff.

LOW VOLUME AND ULTRA-LOW VOLUME APPLICATIONS
Label rates are written for conventional application equipment. For LV/ULV equipment, use the per acre rate of RESIST 57™ and adjust amount of water to equipment needs.

NOTE: Always conduct a phytotoxicity test on a small area before applying to a large area in order to assess any potential risk to plants.

Crop injury may result from mixing RESIST 57™ with certain surfactants, foliar fertilizers or other pesticides. Because RESIST 57™ is a slightly acidic buffer solution users should avoid mixing RESIST 57™ with strongly acidic or alkaline materials. Do not tank mix without first testing the mixture’s compatibility nor apply it without assessing its safety to the crop (phytotoxicity).

Because it is not possible to test all material combinations and environmental tank mix combinations, always conduct a test with the intended tank mix on a small area prior to any large scale applications. To determine if a combination is phytotoxic to a specific crop, spray a small area of foliage and fruit, and then evaluate 3-7 days later for visual symptoms.

Always test the compatibility of spray adjuvants (i.e. stickers, spreaders, wetting agents) with RESIST 57™ before use. Do not use acidifying type compatibility agents.

To determine the compatibility of RESIST 57™ with other products, use the following jar compatibility test:
1. Add the correct proportions of each product and the appropriate quantity of water to clean container.
2. Thoroughly mix.
3. Let stand for 3-5 minutes.
If the mixture remains in solution or can be remixed readily, the products are considered compatible.

1. Fill the spray tank with ½ of the required volume of water.
2. Begin agitation (either hydraulic or mechanical) and add RESIST 57™ slowly to the tank.
3. Continue agitation and fill the tank to the desired volume with water.
4. Maintain agitation while applying.

It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Read the entire label before using this product. Do not apply this product in a way that will contact workers or other persons either directly or through drift. Only protected handlers may be in the area during application. For any requirements specific to your State or Tribe, consult the State or Tribal agency responsible for pesticide regulation.
